About SinoChapter
Chinese voices. A wider conversation.
SinoChapter began with a question: what might English-speaking business leaders be missing when Chinese business thinkers are harder to access in English?
English-language management reading often draws on familiar Western business publications and institutions. SinoChapter began with curiosity about the perspectives less often encountered on those reading lists.
Those readings offered valuable ideas. They also prompted another question: where were the perspectives of Chinese entrepreneurs and business leaders—their accounts of building companies, understanding customers and making decisions in a different environment?
This was an information gap worth exploring. A reader working in English could readily encounter Western management thinking, yet have fewer opportunities to engage with the ideas circulating in Chinese-language books.
SinoChapter grew from the wish to help bridge that gap: to make selected Chinese books more approachable for English-speaking readers through thoughtful summaries, context and recommendations.
A starting point for understanding
Our aim is to broaden the conversation. Chinese business leaders do not speak with one voice, and no single book can represent an entire country. Each selection offers a particular author’s perspective, shaped by a particular experience.
We hope these guides help readers discover unfamiliar thinkers, ask better questions and seek out the books behind the ideas. As the collection develops, we also explore history, literature and everyday life—the wider context in which business takes place.
How we prepare our guides
We are developing English guides from our Chinese editorial archive, using AI-assisted translation followed by editorial review before publication. We aim to credit each source book and summary writer, distinguish an author’s arguments from our commentary, and check factual claims and translated terminology.
