Membership Terms

Effective date: 6 October 2026 · Version 1.2

Membership coming soon. New signups and paid subscriptions are currently closed. The membership and billing provisions below describe the planned service when it opens; existing members can continue to manage their accounts.

These terms govern SinoChapter, operated by Pax Sinica Publishing Limited, Hong Kong. Contact: hello@sinochapter.com. Our Privacy Policy explains personal information processing.

Company correspondence address: Flat 14, 29/F, Ho King Commercial Centre, 2–16 Fa Yuen Street, Mong Kok, Kowloon, Hong Kong.

Your account

Provide a valid email you control and keep account access secure. Paid memberships are for individuals aged 18 or older who can enter a binding contract. Contact us if you believe your account has been misused.

What membership includes

Free accounts can access public guides. Paid membership gives access to the subscriber-only guides available during your subscription. Our library grows as guides complete editorial review; books shown only as cover-and-title previews are not readable guides. We do not promise a particular publication frequency or that every preview will be published.

Prices and automatic renewal

The standard plans are US$7.99 per month and US$79.99 per year. Annual membership is charged as one yearly payment. The amount, currency, billing interval and any applicable tax or discount shown at checkout govern your purchase. Your bank may apply currency-conversion or other fees.

Subscriptions renew automatically at the selected interval until you cancel renewal. Stripe processes payments. You authorise recurring charges through checkout. Failed payments may be retried and paid access may be suspended if payment remains unpaid.

If a renewal price changes, we will give advance notice before the change takes effect and an opportunity to cancel. A change will not increase the price of an already-paid period.

Cancellation and refunds

You can stop future renewal through My account or request assistance at hello@sinochapter.com. Cancel before your next renewal to prevent the next charge. Ordinary cancellation preserves access until the end of the paid period. Newsletter unsubscribe does not cancel billing.

We offer a refund of a first subscription payment if requested within 14 calendar days of purchase. Renewal refund requests are reviewed individually. Our Cancellation & Refund Policy explains the process. Nothing in these terms limits mandatory consumer rights.

Reading and reuse

Your membership permits personal, non-commercial reading. Do not share paid account access, republish paid guides, redistribute our content or systematically scrape it without permission. Source books and their authors' material remain subject to their respective rights. Contact us for reuse requests.

SinoChapter offers independent summaries, context and recommendations, rather than an authorised full-book translation unless expressly stated. We identify source books and authors and use AI-assisted translation with editorial review. Guides may contain errors and do not replace the source books or professional financial, medical or legal advice.

Service and account issues

We may update content, correct errors and undertake maintenance. If we materially reduce a prepaid service or discontinue it, we will notify affected members and provide any appropriate remedy, including a refund for an unused paid period where applicable. We may restrict misuse, fraud or unlawful activity and explain the decision where lawful and practicable. Contact us to dispute an account restriction.

We do not exclude liability or remedies that applicable law does not allow us to exclude. Hong Kong law governs these terms, subject to mandatory protections and jurisdiction rights available to consumers in their country of residence. Contact us first to seek resolution of a complaint.

Material changes to these terms will be notified before applying where required. Changes cannot retrospectively remove accrued rights or prepaid entitlements. Each version has an effective date.
